NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING #2


FOR FUNDING UNDER THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ALLOCATION PROGRAM


Shelby County intends to apply to the Ohio Department of Development for funding under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Community Development Allocation Program and Neighborhood Revitalization Grant program, federally funded programs administered by the State.  The County is eligible for fiscal year 2024 CDBG funding, provided that the County meets applicable program requirements.


On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, the County conducted its first public hearing to inform citizens about the CDBG Program, how it may be used, what activities are eligible, and other important program requirements.


Based on both citizen and local officials' assessment of th County's needs, the County proposes to review the following CDBG activities for project year 2024:

Objectivity Being Met - Benefiting the needs of low- to moderate-income persons; limited clientele; and/or preventing slum or blight.


This application is due to ODOD by June 12, 2024.


A second public hearing will be held May 21, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at the Shelby County Commissioners' Office to give citizens an adequate opportunity to review and comment on the proposed CDBG application, including the proposed activities as summarized above, before the County submits the application to the Ohio Department of Development.

Jackson Center Pool

Lifeguards and slide attendants

The Jackson Center Pool is now accepting applications for summer Lifeguards and Slide Attendants.   Those individuals that wish to apply for the Lifeguard position, must provide a copy of their Lifeguarding with CPR/AED First Aid Certificates along with their application.


Those individuals that would like to apply for the Lifeguard position must be certified before the Swimming Pool opens at the end of May.  Lifeguard Certifications classes are offered at the local YMCA's such as  Sidney-Shelby County YMCA and Wapakoneta Family YMCA  are just a few places that you can call and find upcoming classes.  The Village does not pay for your Lifeguard Certification up front, but will reimburse you half of the cost of your certification class upon completion of the pool season.  Keep your bill/invoice from your class and turn it in to the Village Office for reimbursement of half of the cost at the end of the pool season.
