Holloway Sportswear Inc Donates Building to Village of Jackson Center
On October 31, 2011, the Village of Jackson Center took possession of the former Holloway manufacturing facility which was donated to the Village on October 24, 2011 by Holloway Sportwear, Inc.
Holloway Sportswear, Inc donated the building as a way of assisting the village and in appreciation for the long standing support and relationship that Holloway had with the administrators and the community in general.
Holloway Sportswear, Inc. designs, manufactures, and markets jackets and active sportswear. Their products include outerwear, athletic uniforms, sweaters, team apparel, accessories, and fanwear. They offer their products for the sporting goods, imprinted sportswear, promotional products, and college bookstore channels. Holloway Sportswear was founded in 1941 in Jackson Center, Ohio and is currently headquartered in Sidney, Ohio. In 2006, Augusta Sportswear Group acquired Holloway Sportswear which is a privately held apparel company best known for making letterman jackets.
January 2010, Holloway Sportswear announced it would shift the manufacturing of its wool varsity jackets in Jackson Center to a company-owned facility in Mexico. The transition was completed in the first quarter of 2011. This was a strategic decision based on current economic conditions and the volatile wool jacket market. It was not a reflection on the dedication and contributions of the employees in the Jackson Center facility, company officials said.
The Village of Jackson Center did due diligence on the property before accepting the donation which included a phase I environmental and limited phase II environmental. The village currently plans to use the facility for storage of materials and equipment that was being stored in various locations and outside due to lack of space. This consolidation will make things more efficient for the village by having all material and equipment in one location and protected from the weather. In 2012, the village will study if they wish to consolidate all village operations to the facility, offer the building for economic development or a combination of the two.

Jackson Center Municipal Electric & Efficiency Smart bring big savings $$$ to residents and businesses this fall helping to keep the lights on when needed the most.
November 22, 2011 – [Jackson Center, Ohio] – Jackson Center Municipal Electric & Efficiency Smart are helping residential and business electric utility customers to save money and energy this fall by mailing them valuable money saving coupons for energy efficient compact fluorescent lighting (CFL).These coupons will arrive in the mail in the early fall when efficient lighting is needed most.
“We are getting into the season when lights need to be on longer due to days getting darker earlier, so we want to encourage utility customers to use CFLs instead of incandescent lighting,” stated Stephanie Goff, Village Administrator. “Lighting is 20 to 30% of a typical residential electric bill. You can save up to 67% of the cost to light your home by replacing all incandescent lights with CFLs. It makes economic sense to switch out as many light bulbs that are less efficient as possible. The quality of CFLs has greatly improved over the past several years, and they can be used in a variety of places and ways, including indoor and outdoor flood lights, recessed cans and dimmable lighting locations.”
Customers of Jackson Center Municipal Electric will receive $26 of coupons that may be redeemed for at least 14 CFLs. By replacing 14 incandescent lights, customers can save up to $518 over the life of the bulbs. The coupons will be accepted at any store that has GE brand CFLs in stock and that accepts manufacturer coupons. A list of participating stores can be found in the home lighting section of the www.EfficiencySmart.org website. Utility customers can expect to receive the coupon mailing during the 3rd week of November in their mailbox and also as a utility bill stuffer on December 1st. The offer will expire on December 31, 2011.
Efficiency Smart also provides a guide to help consumers choose the right light for the right location on their website www.efficiencysmart.org.
